New steering wheel to get volume control

Hi all

I have a 2000 323Ci without volume control on the steering wheel. (see pic)
Is it possible to install a more recent steering wheel, in order to get volume control? is the car pre wired?
Or is that too complicated. I see a lot of steering wheels going for reasonable prices on ebay, so if it's not too complicated I'd like to do the upgrade.

What DIY did you use? Did everything work out perfectly?

I haven't done it yet as I am yet to order all the necessary parts and wires.
I'll keep you posted when done (if it works!!)

Went through loads of DIYs ans the best seems to be this one:

Ivegotissues666 advises to buy your own wire in the thread above. Has anyone done it? which section wire/ type would you recommend?
