Unhappy messed up NR gauges

Has anyone else messed up the NR gauges by forcing them through the speedometer and RPM needle tabs? I now have a small rip near the base of both of these needles. For those who have done this, have you considered drawing a ring around the aluminum gauge with a black Sharpie to hide the defect?

when installing mine i had to take off the rpm

and mph needle they were a bit too big...im sure a black marker might do the trick just make sure its a thin line nothing to fat unless the rip is big or maybe take them out and tape the back of it so it somewhat sticks together post a pic so we can see what happened
