Emergency

im driving home from the mall and i my windows are rolled down cuz in houston it is finally nice out. My friend then asks to roll them back up because her hair was bothering her. I roll em up and look back to see that my passenger rear window is only half-way up! Is there any way i can manually roll it up? I have a big celebration dinner tonite (last day of highschool) and can't roll into valet with a bootleg window. I have a service appt for tom. morning but needed a quick fix. 40 g's and my window doesn't work...ill be damned

In the old days

In the old days before OBDII, SMG, and M is for Marketing, BMW put small plastic plugs in the doors to allow access to the window motor gearbox. You could pop off the plug and use an allen wrench provided in the tool kit to crank up the window manually.

Just one more step in the Camryization of BMW.

its probably the window regulator inside the door. its probably broken. i had the same problem on my passenger door, the window would not roll up all the way. there isnt a way to close it unless you take it to the dealer and have them replace the regulator. it sucks, but there isnt a thing you can do.

Roll down all your windows to the height of the broken one.

Try This

This owrked for me when my regulator went.

With ignition on open door.
Stand outside by door and put one hand palm on each side of the glass. While someone else operates the up button press your palmes together with the glass sandwiched between them and lift. Should work.

try using your key from outside the car...if you're lucky it's just the button thats broken and not the regulator.
