what happens if light hits it and reflects right onto another driver's visor? the visors are probably tinted but still. sounds kinda weird

I suppose that the red is not actually red but orange, given the fact that McLaren's color is orange. Pretty awesome car!!

No, its red. The reason being Mclaren has taken on Vodaphone as a major sponor effective 2007, so they are segwaying into that color.

Yeah Im aware that Vodafone has signed with McLaren from 2007 but

a)now we have 2006
b)even the arrow shaped thing in the McLaren's logo is red and this has always been orange...

Probably just want to change it up. I personally prefer the Papaya Orange they used in testing.
