Workout Routine

hey guys, i just wanted to see if you guys have any input for my workout routine. i'm 5'8", 240 pounds, and although that seems to sounds really bad, i am active in sports, and it is definitely not all fat. before summer comes around, i want to look my best which is why i am trying to step up my workout routine. if you guys have any suggestions, it will definitely help. this is what i have planned for myself.

Monday - treadmill for 1 hour, elliptical for 30 minutes, workout arms and shoulders.
Tuesday - trademill for 1 hour, ellipical for 30 minutes, workout chest and legs.
Wednesday - treadmill for 1 hour, elliptical for 30 minutes, workout arms and shoulders.
Thursday - rest
Friday - trademill for 1 hour, ellipical for 30 minutes, workout chest and legs.
Saturday - treadmill for 1 hour, elliptical for 30 minutes, workout arms and shoulders.
Sunday - rest

along with my workout, i will be playing basketball monday, friday, and saturdays.

Alot, try a different split, like a 4 or 3 day split...

mon-chest/tris
tues-back/bis
thur-legs/abs
fri-shoulders/traps

or

mon-chest/shoulders/tris
wed-legs/abs
fri-back/bi's

Something along those lines, doing cardio on the days you don't lift. You need to give your body and CNS enough time for recovery, there are a ton of different splits you can workout on, just gotta play around with it a bit.

If you want to lift and do cardio on the same days i would space a few hours between them. I run for about an hour every morning and lift when i get home from work.

not necessarily

from previous posts, leave 6 hours between sessons (gives you time to rest)

if you still have energy after lifting weights, you're not doing it hard enough

remember...a good lifting session will burn as much, if not more, calories then cardio alone. Don't feel a need to do cardio almost daily

^

i forgot to mention,

for maximum weight loss and good strength gains - look into circuit training (the ones that utilize compound exercises lke deads and squats work the best)

I did the regular body split for 2 years and switched to circuit training for 6 weeks. I lost some bf%, saw a lil defintion and got stronger and faster.
