cluth blew on quarter mile run

So, I let my friend race my bmw down the quarter mile yesterday and it got a 23 second run because the clutch basically desinigrated and he couldn't get it out of second gear. Can anybody let me know where I could buy a CHEAP clutch.... preferably a racing cluth, but the key word is cheap. I'm just a poor kid trying to make it.

Cheap and BMW do not go together. You won't find a cheap option for a clutch. May as well ride a bicycle while you save up the $500-1000 for a new clutch.

Might wanna stay away from the track after you have your clutch replaced.

You sure it's not a tranny issue?

I second that that...if your clutch is burnt out the pressure plate won't be able to produce any power but you will still be able to change gears and attempt to move the vehicle. It sounds more like a tranny problem as some others have said.

ehh, I work at a car dealership and I was at the track with a bunch of mechanics.... even if it wasn't for their knowledge, I was pretty sure it was the clutch considering the smell... and the clutch was going out for a while prior, the track just finished it. I ordered a factory clutch (4 peice kit including pressure plate and two bearings) for only $297.00. The shitty thing is that it is a seven hour job and it requires a special tool. Anybody have a shop and tool near sacramento that'd be willing to let me use there space for a day?
