a few more:

1. When you change your own oil/filter
2. Know all the torque settings for each DIY
3. Freak out when someone jacks up the car using the wrong spot
4. You change your brake rotors/pads
5. You know ever detail of each model and can tell what year the car is just from the type of corner, headlights, tailights, and side markers.
6. You know all the tire sizes/offsets for each model
7. You go to the dealership with a list of solutions of any problems
8. You know the proper voltage for when the engine is on/off
9. You know the ODB codes by heart

OMG #7 LOL i sometimes have to tell how to fix the problem.

i love #9 also.

1. you have to clean your wheels every two days from the brake dust.

2. you know about the Chrome M3

3. you have your sunroof clips repaired at least twice

4. you have your door trim repaired at least three times

5. you stuff t shirts and socks under the rear deck to stop the rattling

Okay, I can add these:

When you fly >1,800 miles across the country to meet other Fanatics.
When you have at least 10 Fanatic's phone numbers and talk to them on a regular basis.
When your parts guy knows you by name, considers you a friend, and calls to ask you questions about parts fitment.
When you know the names and color codes of all BMW colors.

You know you're obsessed when:

1. all you talk about is your e46, and how u should mod it next

You store extra chrome exhaust tips in your wine cabinet

Your definition of reserved parking is to pull in diagonally across two spaces and mark it off with yellow police barrier tape.

When a big bug lands on your hood, you pull over, flick the bug onto the street, and then stomp on it.

Your 8-year-old son comes up to you with tears in his eyes and shows you his new Louisville Slugger baseball bat that has black paint and tire marks all over it, and you just shrug your shoulders and give him a hug (that's a subtle one, those of you who roll your own fenders)

Your wife tells you she would like you to get her a black leather bra for her birthday - and you get right on the phone to BavAuto.

those are funny. I do tell people i have an E46 rather than a BMW most of the time. They look very confused 95% of the time.

wow, so many of these are so true for me! looking back, relocking it, parking across 2 spaces and far away, know your parts guy, always show up w/ a solution, think about modding every stock car, always talking to other fanatics, wondering if every e46 i see is on the forums hahahah this is hilarious, im sure there are so many more too

You're a fanatic when...

You're eating chili and find yourself picking out the kidney beans and arranging them in pairs on your plate.

You actually kept the original E46 sales brochure with the pictures of Portugal and have it wrapped in plastic in your fireproof box under "Important Papers."

You never use the tools in your trunk kit becasue (a) they're useless anyway, and (b) the car is worth more in five years with a complete tool kit.

You get pulled over by a cop who claims you were going 85 on the off-ramp and you say "That's all?"

The M-Tech bumper part numbers are tatooed on your wrist.
