M6 in dealership

My local dealership has the new M6 on the show room floor. It is black. The sticker price on the car from BMW was 106K. It had a few options but nothing overly expensive.

What was ridiculous is the dealer added a "California Market" sticker to the car adding another 50K. That's right, he wanted 50 grand over the factory sticker.

Needless to say the car is still sitting there despite being in one of the most affulent areas of Southern California. NO ONE has expressed enough interest in purchasing it yet to write a check.

The salesman, an arrogant dick, said they expect to have dealer mark up stickers on them for at least a year. When I asked about 'over sticker' for the new M3 next year, he said they will have mark ups on that for a year as well.

Why bother?

(from my thread above...thought it was relevant here as well) MSRP stands for Manufactures SUGGESTED Retail Price. It's only suggested because often times it sells for LESS than the suggested price (discounts), and with some cars, under certain market conditions, the selling price will be ABOVE the suggested retail price.

Sorry to hear about your experience with a poor salesman...if you need anything in the future, please let me know. I promise that all arrogance and dick-like qualities won't be found here!

As far as MY dealerships markup of 50k...Actually, I don't expect, and I don't think our managers expect that the car will sell at 50k over...the car is priced that way so it won't sell. ...it's here for 'show' right now only. HOWEVER, IF someone did want the car--the trade off for us to loose the cars 'show quality' ...is 50k over. Hope that makes sense!

good ol' suppy and demand, plus just think if they r making so much extra money on a car like the m6, which in all seriousness 99.9% on this forum couldn't afford, they would be more likely to cut a sweet deal on a car we would be able to afford such as a 3er

No mark up here !!!

I just visited BMW of San Diego. They had a beautiful silverstone M6 on the show room floor. The price on the car was sticker with some additional dealer items added to it. These items were valued added hardware items like early warning Lo-jack, etc. The car was sold for sticker price plus these small charges.

No 50K mark up in sight ! The dealership was packed with people!

They also had three convertible E46 M3 available. All three were discounted with dealer posted flyers showing the old price and the new lower price.

When I get ready to buy I think I might go back to this place where they don't mark up the vehicles.

we have 3 at the south motors dealer and let me tell you the car is just unbelievable... someone I know bough at alpine white one...took it to gorgia over the past weekend and slapped 1200 miles on it and was at the dealer for the first break in service....it drives like a freaking dream.. definitely better than the M5... and the looks? well in a contrasty color like AW it was just a one of kind looking machine... a 645 doesnt even touch it it looks so good...

sick sick.....hopefully I can afford one of those some day...

sat on the z4M coupe and the z4 coupe 3.0 really nice I have to admit....insides are exellent... much better than the e90 for that matter...

Mtech really messed up the e90 front, but the rear is real sweet with the clear lights and the bumper change is perfect...

yea, i've seen the M6 at my local dealership as well. I've also had the honor of having one completely own me at a red light.
