It will never be back. BMW will never produce another 8 series line.

the M8 would end it all. it would have some insane numbers if they made it today, far pass 500hp. 600? 700? 800!?

oh well, i doubt they'd bring it back, but lets hope they do, bmw needs more cars!

The 850csi is still a beast and is nice to look at especially with an upgraged suspension and wheels.

We didnt get the M8 but Alpina made the B12 5.7 (besides the already mentioned 5.0 with 350hp) and it had quite good performance too...

416hp

only 57 produced

^^^^ holy crap!^^^^

Nice thread alex. Did I tell you the good news? My car is getting finished this summer!!! I would like to unveil it at a meet...any coming soon?

Also, You see how the 8 stood the test of time? (BTW I was at Mikes Bimmer Shop a few months back, and saw a black on black 8, on AC rims..old school...freaking awsome, the Black ones, STILL pimp. It was an old guy and I could tell how proud he was to be talking shop + mods with a young guy)

I predict the next car that will really stand out is the z8. This is why i promised it to myself w/i 1 year of graduation (WHO CARES IF I HAVE TO PUT MY WEDDING ON HOLD? NOT ME!! lol)

Great to see your car is finally comming together. Definetly gonna be some interesting meets soon. Check the Southeast regional forum.

My car is undergoing a bit of transformation too....
Software
More CF
Ground Control Coils
19" Luff M1's
Headers

I should be done in about 2-3 weeks.

You know a car is good when its over 10 years old and still will bring you 60K+ like the 850CSi.

When I was 16 and was rollin' around one summer morning in my Honda Civic, I saw my first 8er and had NO clue what it was. I knew the basic Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, etc, but that car was the first one that really stuck in my mind.

I've wanted one ever since.

It is fairly obvious that BMW will not be bringing back the 8series anytime soon. The current 6 series is in exactly the same category as the 8 and is definitely its replacement.
i slightly disagree... i think the 12 cylinder 8-series cars were in a higher category... and the prominence of the 8-series were in the 12-cyl models...

But BMW is smart enough to target more profitable markets...

i loved the 8-series ever since i saw Alec Baldwin driving it (850CSi) in the "Juror"
