Passenger side inverter for CCFL's keeps going out. WHY????

Everything is wired up correctly, I think, and for some reason the passenger side inverter that both CCFL tubes plug into has gone bad on me twice now. I know this because both lights go out and then I replace the inverter and then a week later they're out again. Do I need a fuse or something?

Nobody has had this happen? This morning they were on then blinked on and off and now I think they're off again. Now that sounds like wiring but before they just wouldn't work.

Check voltage going into the inverter with a voltmeter, maybe a loose connection. If you haven't already, solder all the connections, including the DDE wires.

Maybe the inverter keeps getting wet in that specific area you have it placed. That happened to me before because my washer fluid tank kept leaking

I bought a set from EBAY about 1mo. ago and the original inverters went out. The first (driver side)I got a free replacement from the seller. The 2nd was behaving exactly as you described two weeks. The original inverters are from a company called racing dash. I don't think water ingress is the issue. I openned one the first bad one up and it's potted in RTV so it almost water proof (l also siliconed all the opennings when I first installed it because of stuff I read here).

I bought a pair of inverters from vibelights.com for $4.50 each. I had to mod/splice the connectors in as they are not the same as the original inverter. I just installed it this weekend so I can't say for certain it won't go again.

I measured the voltage using an Agilent benchtop DMM of the original inverter, +12vDC = 450VAC (when I reverse the polarity of the test probes I read 180VAC). The new inverters measure 450VAC regardless of the polarity of the test probes.

Hope this helps any.
