But, I REALLY wanted a Trail 70 - a couple of other "older" guys had them, and those were the coolest! I've thought about trying to search for one and see if I could restore it, but they've probably gone through the roof now like the original Schwinn Orange Krates / Lemon Pealers (I saw one last year for $3500, and they were $75 new in the early 70s....) I thought the Harley Trail Hopper was cool too - I looked at them before I found the Mini Enduro.
Too funny - when I was a kid one of my neighbors had a Rupp mini dune buggy and another neighbor had an Orange Krate. Those were the days!

I've seen a few Trail 70's for sale recently, ones that run but need work seem to be about $500 and ones that are in great shape seem to be about $1500. I think my parents paid $150 for mine. I know the Harley was $268 brand new.

Before I got my bimmer, the most I had ever paid for a car was $300...

1983 Audi 5000S (First car, given to me by a relative with 150k on it)
1985 Nissan Stanza (Given to me by a relative 120k on it)
1986 Olds Eighty Eight Custom Cruiser wagon (given to me by a relative with ~100k)
1978 Datsun Pickup with an 83(not sure) Ford Ranger bed on it. Ugliest thing you have ever seen.. but only cost me $50
1987 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. Bought it for $300, spent over 5k building a new motor for it and lots of new parts.. still a piece of **** after 2 years of replacing parts. It was fast... but broke down so often I got sick of it.
1999 BMW 323i

I'm hooked now.. there will always be a BMW in my garage.. even if it is my current one... I will always be happy to see the roundel.

Oh, and besides my bimmer, my other project car is a 1966 Nova 2dr hardtop that was given to me in highschool. The guy said I could have it if I got it off his property. Getting it painted this summer. WOOT!

the worst part is that your bike collection probably cost more than your first two cars combined...

Long list here of cars I have owned sorted by time of purchase starting around 1975. I have never bought a new car and all told have put hundreds of thousands of miles on these cars with few breakdowns. However, I tend to be meticulous about maintenance and repair and do a lot myself. All thefts noted occurred in Boston.

62 Mercury Monterey Convertible
65 Chevy Malibu 2 dr 283 “3 on the tree”
66 Chevy Impala 2 dr 283 auto
65 Pontiac Lemans 2 dr 6 cyl auto – bought for $75 sold for $500
66 Olds Cutlass Convertible (great car – my college ride – blew the motor while revving the motor one new years eve – stolen sitting parked with blown motor)
71 Fiat 124 Sport Sedan 5 sp (this POS blew out the motor on the interstate on the ride home from college for Thanksgiving – I towed it back home – it and 2 parts cars were all stolen eventually)
69 Dodge Dart Convert 225 slant six (stolen/recovered 3 times – then sold)
62 Dodge Dart 4 dr sedan 225 slant six (sent to crusher due to rust)
62 Dodge Dart 4 dr sedan 225 slant six (restored using parts from above)
65 Lincoln Continental 4 dr sedan – originally owned by my grandparents
73 BMW Bavaria 4 sp (parts car only)
74 BMW Bavaria auto (I installed cut rate springs, larger sway bars and bilsteins – took it to BMWCCA drivers school at Lime Rock in 1984 and had a blast - planned to put in 4 sp from parts car but was eventually totaled by a hit & run driver while parked)
67 Lincoln Continental 4 dr convertible (bought with insurance money from ill-fated Bavaria – this car is a dream to drive - fully restored over a period of many years – still own)
85 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl auto (also stolen/recovered 3 times – then sold)
84 Saab 900S 4 dr auto (real slow but great in snow – a real tank)
90 Saab 900S 3 dr auto (not quite as slow, 4 valves/cyl)
60 Studebaker Lark convertible – needs resto but fun driver – still own
92 Mazda B2600i P/U Truck 4 sp 4X4 4cyl
98 Toyota Prerunner P/U Truck 6 cyl auto – still own
58 Cushman Road King Scooter – restored – has 2 speed suicide stick shifter - tops out at about 25 MPH but loads of fun - still own
00 BMW 328Ci 5sp PP (Style 68 SP wheels) – East Coast Cruiser - Been from Maine to Florida and back a couple of times - still own

Bicycles: I have owned thousands over the years, as I own a bike shop.

I owned 2 skylines but they are not the type you would be interested in. Mine were both GT's. The skyline of legend is the all wheel drive turbo GTR
