reset OBDII when switching from XENON to HALOGEN?

Hi,
A while ago I picked up a set of OEM XENON housings for my car and replaced the factory Halogen Headlights. When I first installed it, the headlight malfunction warning lights come out and I was told to bring the car back to BMW and have them reset the computer so the car can recognize the new device.

Now I'm parting out my car and want to put Halogen Headlights back in, do I need to go through the procedure and have BMW reset it again? And let's say I switch back to halogen this afternoon and won't reset the computer til tomorrow, is it safe for the lighting components if I turn on the headlight tonight? thanks a lot!!!

By the way, what's a decent price to sell these OEM xenon housings? They're not the bi-xenon as my car is a 2000 model. Thanks.

you dont need to flash to go back to halogens. All the flash does is eliminate the check for the front headlights. the halogens will work fine and simply will not have this functionality if you dont reflash. no bigge, as its pretty obvious when one of your 2 headlights is out.

expect to get about $450 - $600 for your OEM xenons, depending on cinditon (no broken tabs, etc)

any SoCal fanatic can hook me up with a FREE or cheap reset? I called up my loca dealer and the service advisor said they'll charge me for it. Does anyone know how much would it be? thanks.

That's incorrect. The flash makes it so that the computer is enabled for xenons and LOOKS for the xenon power draw (35w). Now since you are going from 35w to 55w, I don't think the ECU will trip a bulb out. It's only when you go from 55w halogens to 35w xenons that you run into the problem. So you shouldn't need to reflash the ECU.

my friend got his xenons reflashed to bi-xenon standards at the local dealer for free, not to mention they turned of his DRL for free too
