Ballast placement

Alright my 6000K bulbs and ballasts are on the way. Where is the best place to mount them out of harms way. Where are the OEM xenon ballasts mounted?? Any help would be appreciated

are these for fogs or headlamps?

my foglight ballasts are mounted in my bumper rail. the OEM ballasts for headlamps are built in, I believe, to the housing. My P46 have them tacked onto the back of the housing with a special bracket. You may wish to mount them in the bumper rail regardless, to protect from water.

they are for P46's but bough the P46's seperate from the bulbs and whatnot. I am planning to do HID fogs as well so i'd need a spot for the foglight ballasts when that time comes would that work out?? Also whats the best way to mount them on the rail through the top or the bottom? a pic would suffice i think i know what you are reffering too.

The best place to mount the ballasts is in the metal reinforcement bar down in the bumper.

If you can't reach it down there, then find an empty space in your engine bay near the headlights and away from any direct heat sources.

You can use a combination of zip ties, 3M double sided tape and or velcro.

It really depend on what type of mounting bracket you get and also how much effort you want to put into concealing them.

I usually mount passenger side against the washer fluid reservoir and the driver's side on the intake!

yup thats actually what i did in the end since i plan to do HID fogs in the future i need room for those ballasts too.

On a side note my engine bay has become cluttered with not 1 but two wiring harnesses of which the second is too short to run along the outside fender. Anybody else have two harnesses? i will have a third when i get the HID fogs too and that'll just look so cluttered it'll kill me.
