Anyone uses a filter "sock"?

Hi guys,

Do any of you put a "sock" over your SC filter? With the mtech/replica bumpers the technik SC's filter sits right where the driver side brake duct is, and the filter is almost completely exposed to the outside element. Even tho no one has posted having problems with their filter sitting that way, I'm still paranoid and want to get some protection for the filter.

Other than to relocate the filter (not sure how that can be done), I've been told one can buy a filter sock. Is this the same as the "filter cover" that K&N advertises on its site? And for those of you that have the sock, where did u buy the sock from?

TIA

I'm honestly not aware of anyone using a sock to cover the intake filter. I'm sure a couple people here do though. I just dont know how effective it would be to begin with... I honestly wouldn't worry about it- although boost in the rain is always fun hahahaha

I have a Dinan sock over my K&N filter. Mine is an ESS setup.

yeah the dinan kits are the only ones that come with the sock that i am aware of. course you could always buy some goretec material that is both water resistant and breathable and sew it into a "sock" cover deal

is it a huge problem? no not really, thats what a filter is for, to filter crap out, the only thing the sock is for is rain, and seing as the filter is oiled and within the bumper i think youre ok

but remember the sock with NOT save you if you submerge your filter. its just to deflect rain and such, dont go puddle sloshing

Hey redronin, do u know any dealer/vendor that sells this Dinan intake filter sock? or, does anybody?

And I agree, one just needs to drive responsibly in the rain. If I dont exercise caution nothing will save the filter/engine. Just want some extra protection to prolong the filter life, that's all.
