Test drove E90 325xi

Yesterday my friend and I went to BMW Cleveland to look for a new 3 series for him. He is debating between 2005 E46 325xi and 2006 E90 325xi. I like nothing about the E90's, but I kept an open mind. During the test drive we went on some back roads (the salesman was not with us) and started pushin the car. So I got behind the wheel and went to floor it and wow, this car is not for quick starts. It took a while to get going and at one point right after slaming the pedal the car really when no where. According to the salesman this happened becasue of the 3.0L engine is used to get the 215 hp with only one air intake or somthing like that. It handled comaprable to the E46, but I did not feel much of a power diffrence from the E90 to the E46 325's even though the diffrence of 31hp. Nor was I impressed by the interior. The salesman kept talking about the duel-climate control. Now that is a cool feature but not a selling point, at least not for a BMW. Anyways he is going to go with the E46 325xi. So we will soon see him here. Has anyone else noticed this lag in the E90 325's???
