Changing the Audio Player Unit.... Help please!

Hi guys I am new to this board and I got a quick question =)

I have a 2002 Ti Silver 330Ci

I am planning to replace the original factory cd player
because it doesnt play Mp3. I noticed that the slot for the player is larger than the standard sizes. Does anyone know where to buy that piece of plastic that will fill it?

I am interested in the Sony MEX-5DI CD/MP3 Receiver with CD Changer Controls. It has the LCD thingie..

But here is the main question. Will i still be able to change tracks and volume by using the buttons on the steering wheel? Or are there any good cd/mp3 player units??

Thanks alot!!

Please help!!

Welcome. You might want to check out the ICE forum. There's a wealth of information in there about various sound upgrades etc.

You can also do a search for "mp3" and it might turn some helpfull posts up for you.

There is a kit and a harness available for the car. The only problem is, that the kit will offset the aftermarket radio to the left because there is a mounting bolt where your FM, AM, etc buttons are. Aftermarkets don't generally look good unless they are custom done. As far as wiring it in and mounting it ...its no big deal. Any stereo shop will be able to order it....The kits are made by Metra and Scoche.

And no, the buttons will not be able to be used on the steering wheel......without an adapter...but not sure if that works on all aftermarket decks...

Crutch field has the piece to let you maintain steering wheel functions

And you can have a custum frame made to make the aftermarket head unit look better... heres a crappy pic
