partially smoked rears, yay or nay?

i borrowed a pic of someones coupe from here, hope they dont mind!

the rear lights dominate the back end too much at the mo, and i dont know what to do with them. I want to keep an overall stock look (ish), so cant be too dramatic. what do you think:

they would look better in real life. Anyone done similar?

I like the original, I even think they couldn't have done a better job with this rear (apart from the E36 Coupe).

i think that makes it look too much like a c230 kompressor....i vote for smoking the red and leaving the turn signals clear

I love that, the partial smoking is nice. I don't like it all smoked personally.

Takes away from the clean look of the car... I would get the lite tint instead where its not as noticeable.

Nay.,

Looks like (and is) a cheap mod. Doesn't make any beneficial improvement, if anything will make your lights less bright / efficient.

Will effectively limit your buying audience and thus lower potential resale value. Have you noticed there's a tendency for people to want to mod their own cars, yet not consider purchasing a car that's "been messed about with".
Just the way it is.

Just do a pshop and see how good it looks. I don't like the second pic. Either smoked the red leave the white or smoke the white and leave the red. IMO

Go to a tint shop and ask if they have any scraps you can use, you could just stick it on, if you don't like it - peel it off. Not too complicated. When you get a configuration you like you could get either a lamin-x tinted sheet and cut it to fit, or try a piece of window tint (not sure on durability) in whatever percent you wanted.

Spraying is rarely consistent.
