Stock Xenons
Hey I have a 2002 330ci with bi-xenons. I have almost 3000 miles on the car. My friend has an 01 and his lights seem to be more blue. Mine are more white. Anybody experience this problem or know what it could possibly be?
thanks |

This is a question that has been posted many times. Your xenons after a while will burn off into a whiter color. Technically you have more visibility when the xenons are worn in, if you will. The human eye can adjust a lot better and see better during normal white light than it can to the other colors of light such as the blue. If you really want the blue color, which is a popular add on, buy some 6000k's. However, mind you will be losing some visibility as if any one really cares

Yeh not sure, I don't have xenons so I can't really say but I am sure some1 can hook you up with the DIY. Beware that it may void the warranty for the xenons if you actually car...

I am pretty sure that if you allready have xenons all you have to do for the 6000k upgrade is change the bulbs.

I have the 6000K's in my 02' and they are great. The people w/o the 6000K's keep telling others about losing visibility, but they are truly better than stock. I was expecting to not see as well w/ them b/c alot of people kept saying that, but I see 10x better. Unless they have the 6000K's, they really don't know how amazing they are. Got mine from www.hids4less.com for $350 w/ a 5 year warranty. The color is sick too. Very blue but next to halogens on the road, your path looks pure white!

Ok I'm reviving an old thread instead of starting a new one
I just bought a 2002 330Ci, and the xenons look like reflectors instead of projectors. I thought that BMW used projectors in all of their cars? My 2000 540i had projector xenons. Am I missing something here? Thanks! |

OEM Xenon's are projectors with D2S bulbs.

If you have xenons, your headlights look like this:
![]() If you do not, your headlights look like this (less the halos): Now it's possible that the previous owner retrofitted an HID kit into halogen housings which would achieve the xenon output without the benefit of projectors. |

You are correct. I just double checked and it looks like the previous owner retrofitted the xenons without the projector. I am actually very surprised since the output is much better and they actually look nicer on the road than the 540i projectors.
In my exprience (Acura/Lexus), the projectors usually look much better than reflectors. Quote:

That's odd, you should try them with projectors because they are that much more effective. Mainly in preventing glare from blinding oncoming traffic.
