Electrical Genii Unite...

Alright I have a 01 323i and I have replaced the lights that illuminate the license plate with LED bulbs, and obviously this has thrown the warning up on the dash regarding 2 lights in the rear are out... and I think I know why, because those bulbs don't provide enough resistence, so the computer thinks they are not even there/out (somebody correct me if I am wrong)... anybody ever figured out what the tolerance is regarding some of the exterior lights so that a minor resistor can be added to prevent this warning from displaying? Or what exactly has to be done to stop this from displaying?

For some reason this happens on select E46s. We have replaced the license plate bulbs with our LEDs on a variety of models without any bulb out warning but there is always that one or two that throws a warning. Resistors would prevent the problem but they are hard to mount in such a small area.
