strange angel eye goings on...
I recently fitted ccfl angel eyes to my e46 330. they came with necessary inverters etc which i housed inside the light casing itself (out of view). a tiny bit of drilling and rewiring was needed but nothing major.
now... When i turn the ignition key and fire up the engine, the angels spazz out, and flicker on/off super rapidly for about 2-3 seconds. then stay off. I can then turn them on/off totally fine after that, they dont flicker untill next start up. is this a case of power flowing through the inverters causing some twitching upon ignition, and nothing to worry about? they function fine etc. in fact, i would go so far as to say it looks kinda cool, like they wink at on-lookers when firing up . |

Does it do the same thing on both sides?
What did you use for power? Some light circuits in the car (i.e. parking lights) get a "test" signal sent by the LCM to check for bad bulbs. If you tied to a light circuit, you are probably "seeing" the test signal. Just like any other fluorescent fixture, initial startup puts the most strain on the system. If it is doing this every time you start the car, it could reduce life expectancy. |
