tail light plug burning why??

ok so my friends 325 has an issue with his tails, the brown wire, which is the negative tap on the tail light plug has burnt the prong it connects to and the plastic around it... it happened on both sides of the tails and is causing flickering. Why is it getting so hot? hes got hyper white tail light bulbs and a sub system he just put it and we cant figure out what is causing this. He also tried wiring fog lights to the positive tap in the hood and it ened up burning his cap and wire. any idea what is up?

It gets hot and burns because it doesn't make a good contact. The loose contact causes little sparks (like what you see when you connect up your battery cables) and these sparks generate heat. Why doesn't it make good contact?, poor design/manufacturing tolerances would be my guess.

i had the same issue on my 2001 330 and what i found out was the ground or the brown wire wasnt making a good ground so i got the new bulb carrier and the black piece that all the wires go into and new ground wires and used one of the screws on the tail lights as a ground fixed the problem

I had the same problem and I just ended up securing the connection with electrical tape and I haven't had a problem since.
