angel eyes trouble
so.... for some reason.. my left halos dont work (both of them)... im pretty sure there is a current going through seeing how i got electricuted by it.. (haha).. im not wire/electrical savvy so how can i diagnose where the problem is? im worried cause BOTH of them dont work.. they began malfunctioning when i replaced the Xenon ballast on that side.. the wires might have been tugged a bit.. so yea.. if that helps...

swap the angel eye ballasts (the little black boxes). see if that helps. if it does then contact your vendor for a replacement ballast

yea. when you installed it, there should be a black plug where you used to plug the white wires into. just unplug that and switch it out

yea those black boxes in the bag. do you have the thinlines? looks like you do. in order to take the white wires out. you'll have to take some thing small and poke it in the holes (where the white wires connect to the black ends) and push a small metal tab to get them out.

oh the thinlines are a type of angel eyes set up. the ones you linked seemed to be what i was referring to. take a picture of your set up in the engine bay. and the connectors as well. if yours are different, you can probably just take them apart without doing what i advised earlier.

sorry for the late response sillie.. today is my day off since i have no classes on tuesday!.. haha.. i took some pics.. it looks like a mess so ill try to explain the wiring job.. i did cut some wires as you'll see down below but i reattached them with that red thingy (i have no idea what they're called... my friend did that for me.. please dont blame it on those considering they've worked for months prior to my HID ballast change... one of the rings wirings looks PERFECT.. yet BOTH don't work.. so i dunno where to look.. im pretty sure its not the halo ballasts cause i accidentally touched a blue wire and it electricuted me... so there IS electricity running through it.. yes i tried to make sure there was no metal showing on the other one.. but the fact that the other wiring is fine yet doesnt work leads me to believe something is wrong w/ both of them.. AHHh iuno what to do!!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() YES those 2 wires are cut and i reattached them with that red thingy.. i dunno what they're called.. haha.. dont blame it on those please.. they worked like that for months. ![]() |

lol wth is that? why were the wires cut? it seems that one of the connectors melted?
well after looking at this for a couple of minutes. i see that the red part of the ballasts goes to the relay. the white to the blue (which are the halo wires). i don't understand why you would cut them though. for the red it's fine. but both whites should go into the connectors where the 2 blue meets. and those red things are called wire taps lol ok it seems to me that inorder to take the ballasts apart you have to: 1. pull the connectors apart where the white meets the blue (for black connectors - push the tab on the blue side and pull) (for red wire taps - just pull) 2. cut apart where the red meets the red (for both sides) that's the only way to do it.

would it be the ballast still even though there's electricity running to the blue wires? ahhhargg.. thanks for helpin me though sillie... as you can tell.. i have the electrical knowledge of a 5 year old... hahaha.. i dont know jack about wiring etc.. edit: oh yea.. you'll notice the wires by the connectors are all smooshed and look melted.. that is due to us using pliers to try to shove the wires into the connectors (further helping my argument that those connectors are ridiculous).. after doing that so many times.. it's no surprise that the wire sleeves are like that.. arg.. help please!! =] Last edited by v3man; 05-01-2007 at 05:12 PM. |

lol actually those connectors are easy to pull out. you're just supposed to push the tab that's connected to the blue end (shown in white). and on the white side, you just use the triangular nubs (shown in yellow) to pull out.
the directions of the push and pull are shown in blue: ![]() it could still be the ballast. the ballast may have shorted, sometimes it could still carry a small current. wish we could meet up. would be a lot easier if i could just do it for you. like a bimmerfest or something. btw. if you want, you can just cut all the wires. and then buy a bunch of those red wire taps and put them back.
