help diagnose my headlight problem

hello everyone,

recently, one of my xenon's only works half the time. the car has 65K miles after almost 5 years and the only exterior lighting i've had to replace are my turn bulbs. i'm wondering if i have to replace the bulb/ignitor/ballast? i'm not too familiar with the specifics of how xenon's work, but if the xenon does work half of the time, where could the problem lie? any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

swap the bulbs/ballast/igniters to isolate the problem. but it does sound like the bulb going out because of the time/mileage. but it could be the igniter or ballast as well
