capacitors for P46's

I tried installing 35v 4700 nano f capacitors on my p46's just as described on a previous topic...but now the light won't even come on. My wires are yellow and black and we tried hooking the positive to both the yellow and the black and both times got the same result, with the one exception when we hooked the positive to the black, the capacitor blew. HOW IN THE HELL DO I GET THEM TO WORK???

The capacitor should be installed on the wire coming out of the car's harness that would normally be plugged into the back of the halogen bulb (but is now connected to the ballast).

The two wires on my '02 325i are yellow(+) and brown(-).
