M740BT/Hub preliminary pics
This install has been dragging out for weeks, partially because a couple Ebay sellers let me down and also because the weather here hasn't been too good for working outside. I am about a week away from finishing it all, but even so I still don't have all the components (Nav, TV tuner etc) I would like to add.
The screen has been mounted in Rich's bezel and I have to say I am even more impressed with his work. I got a centered single DIN bezel from him last year and was totally satisfied with that. Recently there has been someone grumbling about him and his work and I have to admit I began to wonder whether his quality had slipped. Just want to appologize publicy for ever doubting him. The 740 bezel is even better than my other one and once you see the level of detail molded in which is required to mount the screen and the back cover in place, it makes his price seem cheap. If anyone can do it better, then put up or...well you know the rest. Enough said about that This is the screen when I first switch on: ![]() Telephone dialer ![]() One of the many setup screens ![]() These are some of the Hub interface screens (previous ones were for the monitor) ![]() ![]() ![]() This is where I have the Hub mounted. If you are thinking of using the same spot, get ready for some metal cutting ![]() I can still access it through the door in the trunk lining which I had to trim a bit. I intend to put the NAV drive in the gap between the Hub and the plastic tray. Ipod will reside in the tray....eventually. ![]() Check the quality of fitment and finish and then ask yourself what could anyone find to complain about. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is where I mounted the IR-X receiver. It is wedged between the steering column and dash, out of obvious sight and no sunlight should reach it...hope it works!! ![]() I am hoping I won't need to use the Hub Commander once everything is up and running, but if I have to it will be in one of these two places. ![]() ![]() That was just a taster, just need to get it finished off now. The screen is touchscreen, and in the short time I have tested it it seems as if I can control everything from the screen, but then I don't have the NAV or anything else connected so can't say whether or not I will need a remote for other functions. The Hub Commander is a wired controller, but I would rather not have to rely on it.

Very nice pics. Mind If I use them on my site? FYI: you do not need the commander. I never installed mine. Just use the touchscreen or get the remote (PM me if you need the model#). If you get NAV, use the remote it comes with. It's excellent. Rich |

Feel free to use the pics, Rich. I intend to post some others once everything is finished.
I don't have NAV yet so don't have a remote to try, good news that I don't have to keep the Commander connected. |
