I had my dealer look at it too, they said the lubed it and it didn't squeak for like about a hour and then it started all over again. It's only squeaks when I make left turns. The tech guy said he didn't hear anything, so when I go back I'm going to drive it for him and make him hear it.

So as of now, no one has no idea how to fix it, not even BMW?

come to think of it.. mine squeaks more during left turns.. the reason i don't want to go to the dealer is because they already replaced my steering column and rack for this squeak.. and squeak is still there.. laughable.. huh? u guys see why bmw's keep going up in price.. dealers replacing thigns that don't need to be replaced.

I actually had a "squeeking" noise when I would make slow turns (parking, etc.). The noise was a result of worn control arm bushings. They were replaced, and no more creeking noise.

I had my control arm bushings changed as well (both of them), and now is does it again. So I might go back and see if they will replace them again.

My 2002 325i had this problem, and I brought it to the dealership like 2-3 times, and they replaced the coil (or something like it) twice, but it never really worked because it kept coming back... Someone told me I should adjust my steering wheel to the lowest setting (push it back and down all the way), and it helped a bit... Dunno what happened to it...

i was told by the dealer that it was the airbag squeaking. .. who knows.

i took out the collar and sprayed some lube in there.. seems to be better.

OK, I'm reviving this OLD thread. I have this exact problem and it's driving me nuts. One shop suggested it could be balljoints, but I'm still doubtful.

Anybody ever have this and find a positive solution?

I've been thinking perhaps the upper strut bearing. It does not squeak when I drive in the rain. Weird.

Mine squeaks too, it sounds like its coming from the steering column part that is inside the cabin.

Bump for any input.

I have this sound as well. It only squeaks if I turn left slowly and then only during the first 10 degrees or so from straight. It is a really quiet squeak that sounds like it is coming from the steering column right behind the wheel.

My steering wheel squeaks too. I found this link, but haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know if it works after I try it.

While searching for something else I came across this so I'll revive this old thread once again.

My steering squeek turned out to be the ball joint on the tie rod end.
