I don't understand how people gamble, it's so expensive.

Couple weeks I will be enjoying the sunny Bahamas and I was looking forward to some casino time but not any more. After reading the forums they have $25 minimums at most tables(Craps is always $25) The strange thing is there are lines to get on these tables, who are these people that can afford to drop $25+ a hand(or roll) on a game...I mean, you could easily be down $1000 in 15 minutes this way. To me, that's nuts.

Last time I was at Mohegan Sun I was lucky enough to find the one and only $5 table and I thought that was high. About 15 minutes playing and they raised it to $20 though, I kept playing for $5 for another 2 hours which was nice.

I have been gambling every single day for the past 2.5 years. I bet sports every single day...prolly $50 bucks a day on a few games. Sports betting gives you way more action for your money. I also play blackjack once or twice a week at a real casino, its all about discipline. Sometimes i spend more time parking my car then actually playing black jack. if i go up 100 im gone. Playing 25 a hand you can go up 100 in minutes. If the cards arnt playing my way i just leave... no biggie. But if i go to the casino with a group of friends for a night out on the town sort of thing your gonna lose money. you will start to drink and play carelessly and get caught up in the atmosphere. If you can learn to lose money at the casino properly you could do it for a living......i know a guy who does it and its prolly the most difficult thing to teach yourself. The #1 rule is dont chase money. Bring only what you intend to play with...once that is gone leave, there is always tomorrow.

I was at atlantis (paradise island) last week. There are plenty of 10 and 15 dollar blackjack tables during the daytime. at night they are a little harder to find. I played at a 25 dollar tabel for 2 hours throughout a set of very choppy shoes. Ended up slightly up after being nearly out of the 250 I started with. Peanuts I know but the way I look at it I had 2 hours of fun for free.

It is all relative.

I take 3-5 vacations per year, if I took 1, I could spend 3-5 times as much. I have been down as much as $5K in a Casino at one time but then it comes back around. Whether you are betting $5 per hand or $100 per hand, you just have to have the backup to follow through until it comes around.

On the other hand, if you have $500,000 in the bank (not me), winning $7.50 on a blackjack is not going to be fun. It is the punch in the stomach that makes the game interesting.

If one person has no kids and makes $25K more per year than someone else with 2 kids, they live a completely different lifestyle.

Someone out there is driving a Kia typing in the Kia boards "How the helll can somone afford an M3 at $1200 per month?"

I go to Vegas every year and gamble for 4-8 hours per day and rarely leave losing more than $1000 after a week including tips and free drinks and food.

I am no big gambler by any means, it just ends up washing out in the end.

I used to go to the casino often. And believe me, most people that are playing CAN'T afford it. When they lose $100-500 it hurts, the money probably just came from cashing their paycheck that day.

That's where I'm going, the travel forums said it was always $25 for craps, can you confirm this? Even $10 is high for me...I'm cheap when it comes to this kind of stuff...at least when I gamble on games it takes more than 10 minutes to loose my money.

When I did play craps I was up $100...at a $5 table so if those were $25's instead that would be nice. But at one point I only had $20 left...and came back. So I guess it's luck..you could loose it all in 10 minutes or play for hours and make hundreds.

I look at it like I could take that couple hundred and have a nice dinner instead of giving it away.

yeah you guys are dead on. Its a roller coaster, you can go down 1k and an hour later be up 5k. I have read a few blackjack books and they all basically say if you have the bank roll to keep you going when your down you will eventually go back up. You just need to learn to leave when your up.

I also heard to get comps for stuff at the hotel you have to play for four hours a day at the $25 tables. That would be about 20 hours of gambling...ouch.

At the casino i play at they give you whats called a "players card" and before you play the dealer will swipe it, it tracks points somehow and you can trade those points in for free stuff.

First off: you'll love it there.

Second: I didnt play craps, but the $25 dollar min does sound right. Check during the day, you might find a lower table in the back by the sports betting is where the "low rent" section is.

oh god before i forget one more thing!!!!

DO NOT EAT ANYTHING FRIED ON THE BEACH.

ordered a burger and fires for lunch... threw up, among other things, and lost 9 pounds of water weight over the next 24 hours. Luckily i recovered prior to the end of the trip. Fiancee was sick too but she only had a handful of the fries. I was told afterward the palm oil they cook stuff in can do this...

thank god for those 5 dollar gatorades in the mini fridge...

What sucks about craps, well, it sucks on high tables is the free odds. So the min bet is $25...bad but not TOO bad but then you should place the max free odds. If the free odds are 5x that's $125 more you should put on your bet and that my friends is WAY too much. $5/min only $25 on top of the $5 which is doa-ble...

Everyone says food is insane. What part did you say in? What's your favorite thing there...I'm looking forward to the lazy river part.

one tip when you're gambling.. set your limit on how much you will play with and play with it all, don't be cheap and don't play for money, instead just play for fun. if you're starting witih $1000, think about it being spent already and if you win anything extra, its just your luck

We were in The Cove. On prior visits I have stayed in the coral towers. The Cove is out of control... way nicer than anything I have been to before, the coral is nice too. Lazy river is dope, so is the temple slide. I'm a beach person at heart though.

Food: Diner
Seafire, amazing steakhouse
Casa DiAngelo, good italian food, gigantic portions.
Cafe Martenique... is i spelled that correctly, High priced French fare. very good.
Mesa Grille: Bobby Flay's place. didnt eat there though but parents have said it was so so.
Bahimian club: Good local food, seafood, steaks.

Mosaic for breakfast... awesome.
Seagrapes for breakfast: Slightly lower than Mosaic, but still good.

The Dinner buffets are all pretty good too if you go that route. The one in the Royal towers is good.
