OEM vs. Aftermarket.. Please help.

So I need to replace the glass on the the passenger side mirror on my 2001 325 ci. The stealership has it for about $141.00. So I go online to see what aftermarket glass is available.

Seems like every site links to the same product. This is was I have found link

There seem to be two passenger side mirrors listed in the link. Two questions I have are which of the two has the heating element in it, and the other question is whether its worth it to buy aftermarket for the savings or go with OEM because I know it will fit and have will have the heating element.

Thanks

Andrew

I searched realoem.com for your part number and came up with the following: 51168247134

Check with Tischer BMW site: http://www.trademotion.com/splash/in...?siteid=214672

They have the part listed for around $86...

For the record, if you ever need parts, check with dealers outside your local area... you'll get BMW parts at near wholesale prices.

Thank you for your response 325myAZ

I went to that site and entered the part number that you found. I think that the part number you found is for a mirror piece w/o the electrochromatic element (which I need because mirrors are heated) The search brings up 3 results the first one says w/o electrochromatic the 2nd doesn't say w/o but it doesn't say with.

I'm getting closer, just need the right part.

Try calling them... they're VERY helpfull and I'm sure they could answer any of your concerns.

You could also try Pelican Parts... I think they've got them for around $112.

But frankly, I'd call and speak directly to the guys at Tischer... good luck!
