Do i need to change any wiring?
Hi Guys
My car has self leveling, auto halogen headlights. I am fitting OEM Bixenons that my car came with if you ordered the option. Does anyone know if the wiring is a straight plug/play between the Halogen/Xenon ? The Xenons I ordered are complete, all the bulbs, ballast and so on (All OEM BMW stuff) Thanks! |

glad you finally got yourself a set. no change in wiring should be needed.

The bi-xenon wiring is different than the halogen one. You will need to either:
Mod the existing wiring to operate the bi-xenons & get rid of the bulb failure warning. Bi-xenons have a 3rd plug that triggers the flap when you turn on the high beams. or run new wires from the headlights up to the LCM. I haven't seen a bi-xenon wiring loom for sale so you will probably have to make your own. Then you will have to find out which pins on the LCM correspond to the bi- feature. After you finish with the wiring, you must take your car to the dealer to recode the LCM for bi-xenons. The only plug and play thing are the headlight screws, low/high beam plugs and autoleveling plugs

****, well yes I want to use the bixenon function... So I need a wiring harness, oh god!
That will be impossible to find or work out how to get it working. Will I need to recode the LCM to get Xenon low beam working only without warnings? |

Ok, found a few DIY guides, all very complex but maybe a smart electrical guru can do it here locally.
Seems its a straight fit for a low beam xenon only. And if they flicker, ill get my LCM coded to BiXenon and do the retrofit/DIY project If i buy a local LCM for biXenon can I just swap it over? I heard there are milage tamper issues with swapping over LCM's? |
