Can you put xenon light instead of regular lights

Hi

I have a 323 1999, e46 with regular bulbs for lights. Can you just install a halogen/xenon bulb in mine, or for tha tyou need re-wiring etc? Just something simple to enhance the lighting out of my car.

You can't put xenon bulbs inside a regular halogen light setting. Halogen lights work on reflection. The light is reflected onto the road. Xenon headlights are projected. Which means they are focused into a road.

So you say, so what? Well, xenon bulbs put out so much light, that trying to throw a xenon bulb into a halogen light, the light WILL NOT reflect onto the road. Instead, the light will scatter, and it will blind on-coming traffic.....

In addition, trying to do that would probably end up being worst lighting on the road vs halogens.

If you want xenon lights, you need to get P46s (Projector 46s) These are made to hold xenon bulbs, and vary from price......

What are we looking at for price $200? $1000? How much work is installing it?

For me it cost $625. No thrown codes on the dash saying I have a bulb out. Nothing.

For installation, I did it myself. I'm 17. So it was fairly easy, about 2 hours. There is many DIYs on this forum as well as others to wire up the angel eyes which come in the headlights already.....and DIYs also install the headlights. The headlights just bolt in and out. 4 screws and its out.

Definitely the right way to go. You can purchase one of our HID kits to retrofit into your stock housings but I don't recommend it. You won't have projectors and will get glare issues.
