Ran the car at the 1/4 mile
I took the car out to Gainesville Raceway this morning to do a few runs on the 1/4 mile dragstrip. I haven't ran it since I got the differential on.
The car is steptronic 330, so it's slow as hell. I have intake, exhaust, software and a 3.91 differential. R/T......... .007 60'.......... 2.237 1/8......... 9.618 MPH....... 74.23 1/4........ 14.97 MPH...... 91.34 What do you guys think? I'm considering doing some transmission work to decrease the shifting lag between gears. Any other suggestions? I'd do headers, and put two mufflers on there to keep it from being retarded loud. However, I don't want the car to drone. The only reason why I'm even considering it is because the 3.91 will make up for the loss of low end. The car's an auto, so I have to be selective as to what I get. Last edited by kpeng; 01-27-2008 at 12:13 PM. |

Correct me if I am wrong, but a stock 330 auto does 15.40 ?
It's not bad but I was hoping that those mods would have gave a little bit better time.

Your R/T is pretty good!
But drag racing a 330 and/or worrying about 0-60 & 1/4 mile times is kind of stupid.

Thanks BJ. I realize the car isn't a 1/4 mile car, but it's still a good way to gauge how fast I am.

yeah but what are you goals with it? It looks great, and I'm sure it handles great as well. To make power gains you need F/I, everything else is a waste of hard earned $$$

that car can achieve much better times, you just need to do something to keep from burning your tires/bogging. 2.2 60' is not the best an auto 3.91 330i can pull, you should be able to shave over 1/4 sec from your time by launching the car without tirespin. are cup kit shocks adjustable?... set the fronts soft, the rear stiff, this will help slightly, take some air out of your rear tires. Actually do a burnout before launching, this is a technique that I've had good results with. I know gyear f1s aint cheap, but you need to get some heat in them tires before you launch.

what he said,,, i had my tire PSI at around 22 in the rears and the fronts were almost at max, i never touched them, it's all about the lounch, im sure your rims lowed you down a bit ![]() how are your shifts with the 3.91 diff?? seems kinda high!! edit: i see ur 1/8 times is really nice, it must be the gears, when i ran my 13.9 @99mph run i have a 9sec 1/8 time... and my car is 3075lb +177lb(me)..... 14.9 isn't bad....but it woulda expected it to run a bit faster. i ran a 15.4 with my 5spd stock at my local track, but that was a couple thousand feet above sea level. correct it'd be about 14.9 (i know that doesn't really mean ****, but just a reference). i woulda thought you'd be a little bit faster, maybe 14.7ish.

Maybe if I did a few more runs. I only managed two runs because some idiot in an Integra blew up and hit the wall.
