Finally solved my HID fog problem thanks to Lightwerkz!

Well ever I recieved my HID fog kit from DDM and wired them into my DRL's i've been having some problems. Sometimes when I would turn the car on only one of the HID fogs would turn on, the worst part was that sometimes I wouldn't even know it until I pulled up to a car and saw in the reflection of their back back bumper that I was only running one fog light, it had began to get embarrassing and I was considering ditching the HID fogs all together and going back to my halogen bulbs that I never used.

Then after purchasing some stuff from Lightwerkz lately I decided to ask him for some advice. He told me it could possibly be because they weren't getting enough power to fire both of them, and this could possibly be fixed with a custom built harness that gives the HID's power directly off the battery and has OEM type connections. I was all for trying it out, so I ordered one up and told him to send it when I purchased a set of wheels from him.

Immediately upon opening the package I was impressed with the build quality of the harness. It had been custom measured to fit perfectly, all connections were soldered and heat shrunk with adhesive filled shrink, and it uses a high quality Tyco relay. I was crossing my fingers that this would fix my problem.

Here is a picture of the harness out of the box:

So lets get started:

Step 1: It'd be really difficult to install this harness with the front bumper on, so that's the first step, don't really have any pictures of this because I used daytonaviolet's CSL front bumper DIY for the steps of removing the OEM US front bumper, and that can be found here: http://www.uspinoyrc.com/m3/daytonae...bumper_diy.htm

Here is what it should look like when you're done removing this front bumper.

Step 2: Take the harness and route the black and red power wires up through the passenger side fog light hole and up into the engine bay, here is a picture of mine after being routed, the black ground wire and red power hanging out of the top of the engine bay.

Step 3: Route the red power wire and the black ground wire up into the passenger side firewall where they can be connected directly to the OEM positive cable and a sufficient ground ( for instance I used my ground from where I installed my Umnitza angel eyes as pictured below)

Step 4: Now we have to provide the red wire with power, this comes from the OEM power terminal, just simply remove the black plastic covering, remove the 12mm (may be 13mm don't really remember) and slide the red power wire from the harness over the stud then replace the nut and the black plastic. Now your harness (and HID's) have a great source of power and ground, which ended up being my problem of why my HID's weren't firing the first time every time.

Step 5: Now we must route one blue ballast connector and grey 9006 connector out the passenger side fog light hole and route the other blue ballast connector out the driver's side fog light hole. Now everything is routed to just connect the OEM type connectors and fix this annoying problem.

Step 6: Replace the front bumper, be gentle with everything and it should go back on just the way it came off, again refer to daytonaviolet's directions if you're confused on how exactly it came off, then make sure you still have the 3 connections hanging out the fog light holes so you can easily slide the fog lights back in.

Step 7: Didn't get many pictures of this because it was so easy, but connect the two blue connections to your existing HID fogs ballasts that used to be hooked up to the old OEM foglight 9006 connection. After doing this you should only have one grey connector left on the passenger side. Simply plug the grey connector into the old OEM 9006 foglight connection, (this is necessary to power the relay and fire your fogs).

With a turn of the key both of my HID fogs fired up, something they never usually do. Must have just been not getting enough juice to fire them both the first time.

Install took about an hour and half with removing and putting the front bumper back on. Its really nice to have this problem solved, now I can actually enjoy my HID fogs without having to worry about whether or not both of them are on. Thanks again Lightwerkz for making this, really helped me out!
