Have the cheese steaks in Philadelphia changed at all over the years?

I tried all the popular places in philly a few years back and wasn't impressed. Maybe I had high expectations, but I was really hoping for a little more.

there isn't "a" cheese that is used. you can pick from some choices. yeah whiz tastes like ****ing throw up. i get provolone.

Bethany Beach, MD : Surfs Up ---they are from philly before somebody jumps in.
Their son also opened up a place in Charleston, SC right near my house

DB's Famous Cheesesteaks

They bring in all their bread from bakeries in Philly or they own a bakery there to I believe...can't remember ha
They have been in the local papers tons of times and they are very cheap too!

genos is steak-umms and is rather small for the price. pats is a bit bigger and better meat.

Sorry... you guys out west and hell in NY for that matter have no idea about what cheesesteaks really are or should be. Sucks.. but true

When I left PA for college in New York I was disgusted by the "cheesesteak" every place served. No fresh rolls.... bad meat.. no wiz...with lettuce and tomatoes!

I resorted to buying the ingredients from my local shop and taking them back to school to make my own. Everyone I made them for said it was like no other steak they have ever had.

There's an awesome hole in the wall sub shop right on my way home from class. I grab a cheese steak from there about once a week, but now I dunno if I can wait until 7:30

i went to where pats and genos is across from each other and i chose the one with the shorter line and i dont remember which one it was

im gonna have to try both at the same time next time to make a fair comparison
