How much of a difference will a new HU make?

I'm wondering if I swap out my stock headunit with an Alpine CDA-7995 but keep my HK amp and speakers, will I notice a drastic sonic improvement? or would keeping my stock HU and replacing my amp and speakers yield a greater improvement? I'm wondering what the weakest component is in the HK system.

HK speakers are paper cones and tweeters are plastic, strike 1. HK amp isn't very powerful and you can't adjust the crossover frequencies, strike 2. HK subs can't put out enough bass no matter what headunit is there, strike 3.

Start with amp and speakers, and if then you're not satisifed, then you could switch out the headunit and/or add an equalizer...

HU Can Make a WORLD of difference, especially if you get one like mine that has crossover & EQ built in.

You're running an Aftermarket HU with HK amp and speakers and notice a huge difference? What HU do you have?

no I replaced everything. New HU, speakers & amps. I didnt have HK. My hu is Alpine 7897.

when the after market head unit has 4volt output it wil make a lot of difference. 4 volts = you can go easy on the gain of the amp and that way you have a clear signal, less distorsion en a amp thats realy hitting hard.
