I have an other problem..
top won't roll up.. the led is blinking but there's no movement.. to make it work i've to unfold manually the top 'till a certanin point and then i can use te close button.. and everything work.. but when i try to roll it back it stops @ 3/4 and there were no way to close it.. i've had to remove the keys, let the sys.discharge and then lock the compartment by the torx between the seats... Dealer already changed both haul sensors and the ecu, but nothing changed check the video and give me your opinions http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=73oyrysr66c |

This sometimes happens to me, but it has always been fixed by just collapsing/expanding the storage compartment, closing the trunk, and press the opposite button of what I'm trying to do (i.e. If i'm trying to open it, I'd push the close button until it closes and then re-open). I think in my case it may be related to my trunk release latch mechanism. Sometimes my trunk won't close, so I have to press the trunk release button again for it to "unjam" and then all is well. I get a feeling that most people have some time of "sensor" failure somewhere in the system, and not a pump problem. Anyone have a Bentley manual? |

Just recieved a call from the dealer..
and confirmed my worst nightmare.. After 2 days of testing they couldn't find where is the problem, they think that is related to the electric sys. considering that ecu and haul sensors are ok ( they checked the top angle via Modic and every degree is correct) they suppose that the problem is a shorted circuit in a wire somewhere.. if I want to procede they must dismantle the entire top and part of the car, charging me for this operation.. i've consdered to get an used ebay top for spares but the prices is around 1000€ (but i dont need the fabrics..only the wires, the line and the valves assembly).. I dont' think that the game is worth the candle.. but at the same time i think that the labor fees will be quite high for the things they have to do for finding the problem.. Advices? |

ops ...
i forgot to update this. I've found usefull infos on yahoo groups (dudes.. thanks again) the problem was solved after changing the whole harness (from the top's ECU to the front lock mechanism). as I supposed was something quite obvious and easy.. and not something related to the sensors or motors(as dealers keep saying) Is funny because 2 on 3 dealers that i've asked to solve this problem never mentioned the harness, the 3rd agreed with me on it but refused to work on my car because they never did that job, and they don't want to risk to damage it the harness was cheap more or less 150€, the labor more than 500€.... anyway, now my top is working great, still having squeaks and a lil' leakage into the trunk (only in case of really heavy rain), but it folds... |

Holy Thread Resurrection!
I seem to be having a problem with my convertible roof when the temperature drops below 0 centigrade. This quote from page one of the thread seems to describe pretty much exactly what I am experiencing, but it is the only scrap of evidence I can find anywhere on the web which suggests the presence of a cold temperature sensor for the roof. Quote:
Over the last couple of days my experience has been as follows: Temperature Roof Operation +1 C open -2 C Stuck - red light on button when trying to close but no movement, no noise, no window drop etc. *1 0 C Closed Nornmally -1 C Refused to open, symptoms as per *1 +0.5 Opened normally +0.5 Closed normally Looks like an open and shut case ( ) but there was, of course, some driving in between the steps, and the boot was opened and closed so there could be other factors. That said, when the roof first failed to close, I did try slamming the boot several times and the roof still did not work.So in summary, E46 roof temperature inhibit switch, true or false. It was cold... but certainly not freezing... when I attempted to put my top up. It stopped a few inches from "closed"... just died... and gave me the "blinking red light of death". I had to manually close it the rest of the way. I am waiting for a sunny day to pull my car out... let the top warm up... then try to manually close the top all the way to see if that resets it. However, I seem to remember trying to manually close the top the day it happened, but did not have any luck. I hope something is not broken or jammmed inside.

Hello,
I'm new here. I am having the same problems with my '02 330CiC and today soft top operation stoped in down position before lid plate locks completely and started to make clicking noise. I reseted it and closed manually. Red light is blinking and now it doesn't want to open. Any suggestions will be very appresiated. |
