Speaker wire through the door


i drive an e46 convertible. i want to run speaker cables through the door. how do i do this as looking at the door it looks like this is impossible.

anyone done this before, please tell me how it can be done.

haha..sh!t. I've done this and it's a pain in the @ss!!!! to keep this short, you can run 2 speaker wires into the door through the loom that holds the car wiring for the doors, locks, windows, etc. There's two small bolts holding it in place. I think it was 8mm or 10mm socket. I forgot. But yeah you have to really use your head to be able to run the wires in that and still be able to fit it back onto the car and tighten the end with the bolts. If i had a digital cam, i would take pics. But it's really tough to get it to fit tho. Just to warn you. you can go the easy route and just tap it into the speaker wires from the output of the stock amp. That is the easier route since the wiring is already ran for you. Unless you're doing a really really high end system, i doubt the "better" or "aftermarket" wires will do much difference. just my opinion.

Fuggedaboutit, use the factory wiring -- it's decent enough gauge for the woofers, and it's braided, so that keeps noise low. There's not enough of a benefit to wire them yourself.
