Here is ONE of the reasons why I changed my mind about the Focals... Do Focals have poor build quality?

Just in case everyone doesn't read the thread srcstc posted, it's more a problem with Kevlars warping in the summer, supposedly not effecting the Utopias or Polyglass. However, when people tried to get help from Focal for a known problem, although without a receipt, Focal screwed them -- you could argue either way.

Which Focals are the best buy for the money? I was looking at some Polyglass components today that were priced at about $700CDN. Sales guy said I could get in the Kevlars for around $900 CDN. Is it worth the jump? Utopias are probably beyond my range.

Unless Focal has solved the warping problem, I wouldn't touch the Kevlars. People rave about the Utopias, but as you said, they're insanely expensive. I don't know what people's opinion of the Polyglass are -- search the old threads. Otherwise, people who thought the Focals were too expensive have gone with the Diamonds. Others have talked about Dynaudio too, but I don't know how much they cost vs. the above.

Yeah, the polykevlar series has some issues with warping for sure. We just did a new system for a customer and he had previously installed the polykevlars. Needless to say, when we popped the door panels off, the driver side mid was severly warped.

As for the Utopia line, NEVER had this problem, and most likely never will as the material that is used is a higher grade.

And don't get me wrong, I LOVE Diamond audio....so much in fact that I am doing a complete Diamond audio system in my '02 Ram, which will consist of Hex S600S's front and rear, as well as diamond subs and amps.

Well no one in my city that I know of sells Diamond. The sales guy said he would take the Focal polyglass over anything else similarily or lower priced that they have to offer. Mind you he is a sales guy and will say anything. I will probably end up going with them. Any suggestions for an amp to go with them? It will strictly being powering the components.
