How to add an iPod

I'm trying to add an iPod to my system and I found an adapter by Soundgate called the "Docking Station". I have a factory CD changer, so I would like to supplement it with the iPod.

Supposedly, this "docking station", combined with the correct factory interface cable, allows you to add two additional audio inputs, while maintaining factory CD changer controls. It sounds like it will only work for those with a factory CD changer connected (which I have). I've been searching for a way to add an iPod, and this is the only adapter that I have found that will let me keep my factory CD changer.

Here are the part numbers:
Soundgate SDS1 <-- docking station with 2 aux inputs
Soundgate DOCKBMW <-- BMW Interface cable

Has anyone heard of this adapter? Does it really work? Do you know of another solution that will let me keep my factory CD changer? I don't want to drop $180 unless I'm sure it will work.

Thanks

since you have an 03, there is a port of the aux input on the back of your head unit. Do some searches here and at bimmerfest for 'aux' and you'll find some threads on this.

No, it's not out yet in the US but should be out soon. One guy on bimmerfest got it in GErmany and has it running. It will put a little minipub input in your glovebox or where you would like. You should be able to keep your factory changer as well.

Yeah, wait for the BMW part, and if for some reason it's delayed or doesn't come out (unlikely), don't buy the Peripheral setup, unless you want to add more than one aux input. Instead, buy the Blitzsafe (www.blitzsafe.com) auxilliary adapter, which is like $100.
