Removing prefacelift sedan bumper?
My bumper has a little gap (more than usual) on the driver's side headlight/fender area. I'm pretty sure I can adjust a bolt somewhere to eliminate the excess gap but I don't know how the bumper goes together and would like to ask if others have taken off their bumper before. I know I don't need to take the entire bumper off but if anyone can give me some advice on how it comes on/off, I would be grateful. Thanks!

With no response and no time, I tackled the job myself.
Here's the DIY instructions (from a '00 328i sedan): Helps to have cardboard underneath the bumper so you don't scratch it if it falls. 1) Remove 3 screws in each wheel well covering the front wheel well liner. 2) Remove two screws on the bottom of the bumper on each side of the car 3) Pull out three (or four?) plastic screw things from the bottom of the center of the bumper and then pull out their retainers. 4) Use a 10mm socket and to the left and right of the license plate from underneath is a long pin. You might need an extension for your socket to get to this one. Unscrew both of those and pull them down out of the bumper after you've unscrewed them. Final step: Slide the bumper out. Now you can change your headlamp assemblies easily and even change out your radiator if you'd like. |

woops, almost forgot
there are also two 10MM bolts on each side of the bumper (behind the bumper) that will need to be removed. You can access these from underneath the car. They are attached to a white plastic "clip" that holds the bumper up. When unscrewed, they release the bumper. It's actually used for adjusting the bumper.
