Back to the e46 world - now bi-xenon upgrade?

So after selling my 02 330xi 3 years ago, I just picked up a 325i and I want some of the options that I had on the 330xi.

1. The power of the 330xi, just kidding

2. I want the bi-xenon lights

I searched and re-searched about putting these lights in and I am not sure that I want to tear apart my interior and run wires all over the place. So i found these two options

1. bmw adapter harness 61 12 9 416 517
- I guess you can only get these in Germany
-I have a friend in the military stationed in Germany, can he get them and send them to me?
- Anyone know the cost?

2. Rewire the ballast
- This looks pretty easy to do, but will the shutter stay open when the lights are on, or only when high beams are on?
- Will the high beam lights go out when the shutter is opened or will both stay on?
- If both high beams stay on will it cause too much heat in the light housing?

Thanks

you don't need to rewire the ballast. just put the bixenon headlights in. then buy the connector for the bixenon (the small plug). and tap it to your high beams. you will have the inner highs come on as well as the shutter.

also, if you try to rewire the ballast, it's not going to do you any good. since you will need to provide your own 12v source to make the solenoid work anyways. it'll be more of a hack job then what i'm suggesting.

are you looking at the bixenon plug? the middle one is the positive. the other 2 are ground. just combine them together to make one ground.
