Engine temp - Rev

I want to know what is your opinion about the rev optimum. I know the car need to warm to the normal temp, which is half on the way on the odo. I draw 4 line on the pic, and I need your advice, what is the max rev, which not bad for the car when it is in warming time. The car has Streptronic gearbox.

^That guage measures your coolant temperature. You need to have your engine oil at operating temperature before really driving hard. Unfortunately unless you have VDOs you will just have to gues at whether or not it is at temp.

Yes I know this is about the oil operating temperature. As on my 7 series, I think the car has "maximum" rev which is not bad for the engine parts.
I draw some white line on the oil temp odo, I wanted to know what are the Normal rev and max rev if you use your car in the warming period.

When the car is warming up don't red line it.

dont go over 3 thousand until at running temp

between red line and 3000 there are a big difference you cant overtake a car, if you are in the running temp? the 7 series is starting about 4k rpm.. and when it is became higher temp, the rev increasing... I dont know now...

Agree...shift low, under 3000, during the warm up period. Remember that when the coolant is up to temp, the oil has still barely woken up. The warm up time depends on the ambient temperature, as well as the initial use of the car.

Sometimes this is a problem, especially for people, for example, who have to climb a hill shortly after start up. It can be a driveway, parking garage exit, or some epic climb-out, like in San Frandiego.

However, I also know a "seasoned BMW veteran," who felt that his car(s) were warm as soon as the coolant cleared the blue zone (your 2nd white line). Not for me, though...

What do you think between the (2nd and 3rd white line) 4k-4.5k is so much? or it is acceptable?

I can tell the way the car idles and drives when its the proper temp. At idle the car will bounch the idle slightly every 30 seconds (dunno why) and a bit when driving. The car feels different for me until a minute or 2 after it hits the middle mark, then my car "feels" awake, runs smooth, responds quickly.

These cars seem to warm up a lot faster than any other car I have owned. Of course the needle is buffered, so right when it hits the middle, doesn't mean its ready to be floored.

So, You think, It's not about the oil temp, It's about the time, when you can increase the rev? after 30 sec, 4000, after 1 minutes 4500, after 2 minutes 5000?

i would keep it under 3k until at running temp and make sure to not let your car stationarily warm up in the mornings which causes your engine and tranny to warm up at different times

You guys are too cautious. Don't rev over 4 grand for a minute or two, then do whatever the hell you want. It's really not going to damage your car unless you floor it on cold starts every day.

Nope, but the car definetly feels different when its good and warmed up, thats all I was really trying to say, minutes are estimates and not even a guideline.
