Depends on the state. But overall, they are 100% legal to own.

You can own them as long as they're not fully automatic. For example: an AK-47 is usually fully auto, which would be illegal to own, but if it is only semi-auto, then it's legal.

I could buy an AK-47 that was full auto today if I wanted to.

More people need to know these things before they are 100% illegal to own.

Now, it's illegal for common citizins to MAKE full auto's. But if they are on the NFA registry and made prior to May of 1986, you are good to go.

Glockman9c, do you like your Spike's tactical lower? I'm thikning of getting one othem. Cool logo as well as quality product from what it's seen.

I'm debating between a Stag, RRA, CMMG or Charles Daly upper.

Spikes lowers are ok. Awesome company though, very nice people.

Finish is very nice, logo is F'N horrible, custom engraving is cool (and cheap), build quality is average to a bit below average.

For $20 more I'd get something else. I do own 2 spikes ar's but they are my hand out rifles.

CMMG uppers have done me well in the past.

^^Whose lower do u recommend? I'm going for something around average. This rifle is just a plinker....something that won't break the bank.

If you like the Spikes logo and it's just a plinker, Spikes should be fine.

I like LMT, Laurer, Noveseke, Colt, Bushmaster, KAC.....

Unless it's something your betting your life on.

CMMG lowers are nice and affordable.
Laurer lowers I've seen for $130 each.
I just bought a Noeveske lower for $120.
LMT and Colt you have to buy complete rifles to get the lowers.
DPMS lowers have never done me wrong either.

Look at Eagle Arms lowers by Armalite, they are very nice.

Here is one I just finished tonight;

It's got some crazy rare stuff on it....it's also 14.5" using a real deal Colt M4 military barrel, because it's under the legal limit for barrel size (16") it's registered as a short barreled rifle with the FEDS.
