Help with gauge ring adhesive!!!

Hi Guys:

I just installed my silver gauge rings. Yup, they look great. However, some of the super glue leaked through (was careful, but not enough, I guess)! This will slowly drive me insane

Question: What would you use to clean up a little super glue from the plastic -- the rings qon't budge!? Also, what glass cleaner/wipe would you use? Right now, the rings look great, but I need to remove the super glue and give the plastic a good scrub.

Any ideas to help a ham-fisted musician would be very much appreciated

Is there a write up somewhere on how this install goes?

Does the clear gauge panel come off the gauges so that you can do the ring install? Also, do you think a set of photograph style gloves would help?
These are very light cotton gloves that are cheap, generally used to not get finger prints on photo prints, and generally keep body oil off of things.

Let me know on the write up.

Also, are the rings on the market all the same size? Do any of thing rings have larger "lips" that one sees? What about materials, are the OEM rings made of plastic or metal? What are yours made of and where did you get them? Thanks.

There is a ton of stuff with a simple E46 search. Very detailed pics, too.

Unfortunately, the clear guage does not come off the black housing, and because it is attached at an angle, if you fook up, as I did with the glue, it is a bastard to clean.

If you are careful with the glue, it won't screw up. Use Elmers white glue, or something similar. DO NOT use Krazy Glue like me. Sticks brilliantly, but if it splooges like mine (and I used the smallest amount) you are in for a hell of a clean. Mine took three hours -- I used Goo Gone, Eagle One Glass Cleaner, Meguiars Clear Plastic Polish (to remove the 'fog' on the clear Lexan shield!!!), Simoniz detail cloths, cuetips, Exacto knife, paper clip, and matte black model paint!

Along with a steady hand and patience, got it looking acceptable. Acceptable enough that I won't go nuts, and enough that I can take my time to get a 330 cluster cover from a wreckers...

The install is very easy. Just be careful with the cluster. It looks damn cool, very expensive, and very easy to damage when out of it's housing.

I just installed mine..took me whole 15 minutes even with acrylic glue I used. Look sweet ....now its time for gauges
