E39 V8 Oil Change? WTF?
So I was going to change the oil in my 99 BMW 540I V8 tonight. Got it up on the lift, drop the pan, and I see this "oil drain plug" with a hex on it? All I had available tonight were hex keys, not the typical hex socket so I bagged it. Usually its a 17mm socket. Do you take it out so far with the hex, then a socket? The oil drain plug on my I6, as you all probably know, is a typical bolt. Why is this different?
