Royal Purple 5W40 Oil for the 330!

Over the weekend in preparation for an up coming track day I changed my oil. I've been running a off the shelf oil and wanted to try a higher end oil. As previously mentioned on E46Fanatics, Royal Purple recently release a 5W40 weight oil that is specifically formulated for BMWs and other European cars.

After a quick DIY (link below) I had the Royal Purple in and the old oil on the drive way! A quick clean up and it was time for a test drive. Realistically changing your oil isn't an exciting endeavor and typically I hardly notice the change but I have to admit that there was a subtle but noticeable difference in engine idle and revs. I was pleasantly surprised with the difference and will be using Royal Purple from here on out. Bottom line their product delivers what they say it will!

Look for an update on the Royal Purple 5W40 after a hard Track day and in 10,000 miles. I will also be swapping out my transmission and differential fluid to Royal Purple and am expecting similar results. Stay tuned to for more details.
