Ebrake Pad shot thru Vacume Plate?

Hello everyone;

I've been trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with my car and it kept getting worst so I took it to the dealership (or stealership?) .... anyways, they told me that the ebrake pad came off and shot thru the vacume plate... they said that they also need to change the wheel bearing because the old one will get knocked out in the process of fixing the ebrake.... it'll cost aprox. $1200

Does that make sense, if yes, then why did it happen?

I drive a 2002 325ci... got almost 22k miles on it...
