My E30 failed inspection today, would like your input

They told me it needed front brakes.

I said it 'brakes quicker and better than my e46!"

They said it needs pads.

I went home, took the wheel off, and inspected the pad. It has at LEAST half it's life left.

Called back, they said its likely to fail 3 months down the road, so they can't pass it now.

Aren't they inspecting to determine if it's safe to drive on the road NOW? Who are they to try and predict when parts will fail in the future?

What's my best course of action?

I was thinking of going to take it to another place tomorrow, because I refuse to change the pads before they're really gone.

Ha.. losers. We don't have inspections. We just have smog checks and people always pass those.

Thanks for another useful, informative and intelligent post.

I am continually amazed at how someone with your intellect and character spends day after day in a small home in Jersey, sleeping til noon, then eating cheetos and playing video games til 3 am.

Somethings in this world I shall never understand.

thats bs. bring it back, park in front of whoever told you failed, point to it and say "this is an e30. it never fails at anything. ever."

at some of the posts in this thread, but does anyone have a legitimate idea on what I should do?

I'm already out $35 bc I had to pay the shop that failed it, even though it should have passed

I have bottlecaps, so I might as well have hubcaps.

Instead I just have the hubcap look, with the brakeduct build up of alloys.

The worst of both words.

A nice set popped up on r3vlimited today, they're even in CA, though I dont know how close to you.

Heres the link:

I know nothing about E30's, yet, so I'm not sure how they're priced, but they look nice.
