so there's something wrong with my suspension :pics:
So for the past month or so the front right side of the car has been making this terrible noise. I assumed it was the suspension but as I would push down on the car it seemed as though the noise was coming from behind the wheel. So I took a lot of pics so that maybe some one could spot what is wrong. TIA
Oh and I sometimes feel it under my feet on the drivers side... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

i think it's a shock... sound clip sounds like something hydraulic to me and something about the ruber boot over the shock doesn't look right to me

Maybe its a blown shock? If your pushing down on your car and it has a lot of movement(sounds like it does) it could just be them bottoming in out.

Your control arm bushing pulled apart. The inner part that is connected to the arm itself should be flush with the outer piece in the carrier that is bolted to the car.

These two pieces should be flush or the thing is going to move all over the place.

The R1 makes it fun

What elite53 said is true and that can be dangerous during hard cornering.

The end of that control arm banging around. Reach under there and grab the end of it with your hand and move it around and you will see what I'm talking about.

Similar situation
Not getting noise but front end seems quite loose, I'm getting bad steering response at speed and a breaker bar on the driver's side lug nuts shows quite a bit of front to rear movement of the wheel. Took the front wheels off and moved it by hand.....loose where the control arm enters the bushing on the frame.
It does not look close to the photo on this thread....driver's side is really bad, pass side a bit better as far as play goes. So the question now is what to do? Replace with OEM mounts? Replace with aftermarket? I assume I need to remove the control arms to do the replacement, should I get new arms? BTW the car only has 26K on the clock.....I don't get why they are shot, but I assume they are! Thanks for any opinions.......

Time for new control arms. Do a little research there is tons of info here. Many venders carry them check modbargians.com.
My car is '01 with 45,000 when I got it. Bought it off a couple in Oklahoma who had recently moved from Connecticut. My bushings are fading fast I'm guessing the NE winter took its toll on the rubber (not that the rubber is that good anyways), plus the age. I must of made it this far because it was a summer car for them. However, 60,000 is about the time these things start failing.
