Watch your Chin!

The foruns are full of posts where people smacked their chin/face while yanking the shift knob off. It is a biatch to get moving on most cars, but that is it just yank, Some prefer the western "Overhand grip" whils some favor the twist grip.. if you use the other hand it will feel like someone else is doing it (-'

I got a pillow and was going to put it between me and the shift knob cause I read the stories about how people "hit" themselves in the head, chest, stomach, etc... Well, I gave the shift knob a quick tug/pull and it came right off. No need for protection. Don't just pull and pull. Give it a short of reverse "impact" pull, like a quick jerk or tug. It comes off very easily.

Now that I've done it, I don't see how someone could actually hurt themselves by removing the shift knob.
