Question about GC coilover for e46 m3

Hi,

I purchased a used GC coilover with Koni shocks from a fellow member and I noticed the the rear koni shocks are all the way compress(down). The suspension is not install on the car yet. Is this how the rear shock normally?

Im used to shocks always uncompress, meaning the inner piston shaft (shiny part) is always up. I tried pulling it out and it seems to stay but when I press it down it doesnt come back up. I do feel some tension when I pull it out though.

Both of the shocks are like that so makes me believe that is the way it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind. For the record, this is normal.
